Bathroom Paint Colors
Bathroom Paint Colors
Bathrooms tend to be one of the smaller rooms in our home. Even if it’s a master bathroom, it’s still going to be primarily the smallest room in the house. So when it comes to painting the bathroom, you should consider lighter colors. Lighter colors help a room seem bigger than it really is, while darker paints and colors can make a room seem smaller, or more closed in. If you are planning on a new paint job any time soon on your bathroom walls, you might want to consider a few very trendy colors for bathrooms or just good visual colors over all. Continue to read below for advice and suggestions on both, and see if you can find any inspiration to picking out your own colors.
Paler Colors
If you have something like a small bathroom, smaller than normal, you might want to consider pale colors or cooler shades. Paler shades, when mixed with natural light, reflect the light and make a room seem larger than it really is. It’s really just a trick of the eye, but it really works. Consider adding light lavender or blue for a really clean, bright space and make sure that you pair the color with white - also very clean and inviting. When paring, consider white trim around the windows or doors, or even a wooden white vanity, toilets also work nicely to bring white in to the room. If lavender or blue doesn’t work for you, consider adding in colors you find in nature - especially beneficial if you have a window in your bathroom and nature right out back; blue and white, green and brown, brown and copper, etc. These nature inspired colors also bring another "emotion" into the bathroom; relation and peace. In fact, blue, tan and green are all inspirational colors used in spa inspired bathrooms around the world.
Neutral Colors
In any situation, neutral colors can really work in any room. But, these colors also work quite well when it comes to rooms that are smaller, and you want to make them appear to be cozier, not closed in or box like. If you want a really clean or sterile look, consider adding different shades of cream and white, cream and taupe, or tan and beige. Not only do these colors go with most any bath accessories, but they work really well with smaller rooms because they brighten them up. Another color to consider in the family of neutrals is gray. Gray has been and still is a popular color in any room when it comes to interior house painting in Beverly Hills and the bathroom is no different. Obviously you might want to stay away from dark gray, but a nice light gray with blue, green, or even orange will do the trick in a small bathroom, will help lighten it up, and gray also creates a really classy and sophisticated style that can’t be brought on by just any other color.
Bold Accent Colors
Adding bolder colors to an already small room could make it seem even smaller. So if you like bold colors, neon’s, or even deeper colors, consider adding them minimally. Here are a few ideas:
- Essential Teal T15-3 which is a very dark teal color, matched with white trim, white accessories, etc.
- Benjamin Moore Kasbah, which is a deep, and yet bright purple color. Adding this as an accent wall can create a focal point to a certain feature in your bathroom such as a beautiful big window or a claw foot tub. Be sure that when you use something like Ben Moore Kasbah that you only use white colors for things like the walls, inside the shower stall for tiles, tubs and toilets, etc. One thing that goes really well with this type of purple is also silver hardware.
- Sherwin Williams called rosewood terra cotta is, as what you would assume, a terra cotta almost oranges tone. This might not seem like it would go great in a small bathroom, but if you match it up with an accent wall of Sherwin Williams called rosewood terra cotta and then add in natural wood features like natural wood beams on the ceiling, wood basin sink, or wood vanity, it looks amazing!
- Sherwin Williams Fireworks, this is a really bold red and while I’m not going to suggest painting all four walls, or even one wall this color, I would suggest putting it somewhere else you might not have even thought of; the ceiling. Even if you have a small or medium sized bathroom, this is going to add a really bold statement. Make sure you add in some white to the other 4 walls of the room, as well as accents in the toilet, tub, shower tiles, etc. and some black if you would like. Black, red and white go so well together, but if you don’t have that whole red, black and white checkerboard look, this is the way to go about it.
