Kitchen Accent Colors
Kitchens are one of the most popular rooms in a house to paint and remodel, and for good reason; they are one of the most visited places in a house, either by the people living in the house, or by guests. One of the top projects in a kitchen are paint jobs, but many people these days want to do the trendy colors. If that’s the case, then this is a great article for you to read, because we will be going over the top colors in kitchens around the USA and Europe. Many of the examples you will see below have a sample color scheme - you can choose these schemes, or just use them for inspiration to make your own. These paints are also going to include the paint names, as well as who offers them in terms of brands or certain stores so if you do really like a specific theme, you won’t have to go hunting around for that perfect color.
Warm Color Palette
If you really love warm colors like red, yellow or orange, this is a great option for you in terms of colors. In this kitchen, you will be using Rectory Red, Charlotte's Locks, Down Pipe and Pale Hound. All of these colors come from Farrow and Ball. In this instance, the home owners have a side "room" where they have a smaller sink, faucet and a bar area. It’s almost completely opened up, but for three walls. On these three walls they have used Rectory Red which is a really deep and beautiful red color, not bright at all. They also have an open floor plan from the kitchen to the living room, and have included a few "red" objects in the opening of the living room, such as a red chair that is about the same color as the Rectory Red. The orange in this scheme is Farrow & Ball Charlotte's Locks 268 and it might be in a surprising place you didn’t think of; the counters on the natural wood cabinets and island in the middle of the room. The walls are painted Farrow & Ball Pale Hound 71 and the accent color is the Down Pipe - in this specific scheme the owners have used the Down Pipe (which is a deep gray color) around the wall of a professional oven and cooking top.
Cool Color Palette
If warm colors aren’t your thing, maybe you’ll like this option instead by using cool colors. Cool colors include colors like green, purple and blue. In this example you will see Light Daffodil, Whipple Blue, Cream Silk and Brookside Moss being used. All of these colors are from Benjamin Moore. This kitchen has a very clean and simple look to it, as well as modern. The main walls are all going to use the same color; Benjamin Moore Cream Silk 2146-60. This is a creamy white color, with undertones of red that give it a sort of pinkish tone. The accent colors in this kitchen use Benjamin Moore Brookside Moss 2145-20 which is sort of a mossy green color by adding it to the backsplash of the kitchen along with the blue and Cream Silk. The backsplash meets at the middle part of the wall where they have a really cool chrome stove top with cooking hood and a design is made using all three colors of the blue, green and silk colors. You can find really similar tiles that are the exact colors, or custom tiles to the exact same. Another color, the Benjamin Moore Light Daffodil 2027-60, used in this scheme is placed on the cabinets in this kitchen.
Neutral Color Accents with a Bold Accent Wall
Accent walls don’t have to be a bare wall. They can be a wall where you want to accentuate a certain design aspect. In this scheme the owners have a wall of windows they want to base the focal point on, but they also really liked this bold green color but didn’t want to make the room look too gaudy, so using it on one accent wall where there wasn’t a LOT of surface space to paint, was a good option to go with. For this scheme we will be using; Thrive, Stone, Air and Leaf. All four of these are from Yolo Colorhouse. The Colorhouse THRIVE .03 is used for the back accent wall. If you look online this has a very mossy look to it, but in the light it has an almost lime colorization. The top of the counters are matched with Colorhouse STONE .07, it’s a very dark gray color, but it makes the kitchen counters look really luxurious, like natural stone, when really it’s a Formica mix. The cabinets are painted Colorhouse AIR .01 and the Colorhouse LEAF .03 is used as an accent on the top part of the drawers for the cabinets. Really, you could take the green out in this example, and use all three other colors, and use any color for the accent wall. This is a really great set up or foundation for any color you want.
